The Zulu War
After the Boer War, Davidson was sent to Zululand, where he fought in the Zulu War. The Zulu War was another bloody conflict, but Davidson distinguished himself for his bravery and leadership.
Davidson was awarded the Victoria Cross, Britain's highest military honor, for his actions at the Battle of Isandlwana.
The Great War
When the Great War broke out in 1914, Davidson was a lieutenant-colonel. He was given command of the 1st Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment.
Davidson led his battalion with distinction in some of the bloodiest battles of the war, including the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Passchendaele.
Davidson was wounded again in the war, but he survived. He returned to England in 1918, a decorated hero.
