Review
Lee Miller was an American photographer best known for her work as a photojournalist during World War II. She was also a fashion model, surrealist artist, and war correspondent. This biography by Carolyn Burke tells the story of Miller's life and career, using over 200 of her photographs.
Miller was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1907. She began her career as a fashion model in New York City, but soon became interested in photography. In 1932, she moved to Paris to study with the surrealist artist Man Ray. Miller quickly became one of the leading surrealist photographers, and her work was exhibited in major galleries around the world.

In 1940, Miller returned to the United States and began working as a photojournalist for Vogue magazine. She covered the war in Europe, and her photographs of the D-Day landings and the liberation of Paris are some of the most iconic images of the war. After the war, Miller continued to work as a photojournalist, and she also published several books of her photography.
Miller died in 1977 at the age of 70. She is considered one of the most important photographers of the 20th century, and her work continues to be exhibited and published around the world.
